The League - Baseball Meets Art

For many that visit this site, this won't be such a news bulletin, but Art Lande is into baseball. It is a passion and has been since he was a quite young. He knows numbers, stats, strategies, history, trivia, players, managers, coaches, umpires, stadiums, announcers and more. He knows baseball cold! Directly linked to this passion of watching, listening, playing and tracking the stats of baseball is The League. An immersive and possibly even insightful game of baseball played with a regular deck of cards. Family members, friends and colleagues world-wide have played The League with Art for decades. The full story and photos by the Colorado Daily's Charlie Brennan can be found here.

Grammy-nominated Art Lande is an internationally known pianist, composer, improviser, drummer and educator who has performed with a long list of the Who's Who in jazz, including Joe Henderson, Woody Shaw, Bobby Hutcherson, Steve Swallow, Charlie Haden, Kenny Wheeler, Sheila Jordan, Mark Isham, Paul McCandless, Jan Garbarek and many others.

His band, Rubisa Patrol, was formed in the mid 70's and worked through 1983, traveling to Europe often and recording with ECM Records.
